Daphne Guinness Mannequins Come to Printemps Windows
For Fashion’s Night Out 2011, Daphne Guinness caused serious rubbernecking along Madison Avenue when she got dressed—in an over-the-top Alexander McQueen creation, no less—inside the windows of Barneys New York.
For the artist, socialite and style icon, it was a piece of performance art—and now, she’s taking it a step further.
Guinness has teamed up with SHOWstudio’s Nick Knight for a high-tech window display at Paris department store Printemps, Women’s Wear Daily reports.
But instead of physically modeling clothes, virtual Guinness mannequins, created using 3-D scanning technology, will showcase designs by Paco Rabanne, Gareth Pugh, Maison Martin Margiela, Rick Owens and Junya Watanabe.
There’s always a lot to look at when it comes to Daphne's elaborate ensembles, but for this project, there willl be even more.
Knight produced a fashion film of each look, which will run alongside the virtual Guinnesses, and the Printemps windows (being unveiled February 6) will include an interactive display of public-submitted images by multimedia artist Danny Brown.
