A look from the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibit, and Kate Middleton's royal wedding dress
There’s no arguing that 2011 was a banner year for the Alexander McQueen label.
After all, the London Design Museum’s Design Awards has recognized the fashion house not once, but twice!
The nominations have just been announced for the 2012 Awards, which will take place with an event in April.
Categories include architecture, digital, furniture, graphics, product, transport, and—of course—fashion.
And the nominees are: The Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Duchess of Cambridge’s Alexander McQueen by Sarah Burton wedding dress, the Céline Fall 2011 collection by Phoebe Philo, the Mary Katrantzou Fall 2011 collection, the Suno Spring 2011 collection, the Vivienne Westwood Ethical Fashion Africa collection, the shoe collaboration between Melissa and Gaetano Pesce, the Oratory Jacket by Brompton, and the Late Night Chameleon Café boutique in London.
Winners will be chosen in each category in addition to a recipient for the overall Design of the Year Award.
Could Alexander McQueen take the top honor? It’s too soon to say for certain, but the odds are looking good …
