Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2012 Video
The last time Prabal Gurung put his collection on film, he tapped rapper Rye Rye to star in a music video for his first-ever resort offering.
Another day, another first: The designer recently unveiled his very first pre-fall line, which he is again celebrating with a short.
This time, Gurung teamed up with photographer Dan Martensen for a trippy video featuring kaleidoscope images that reflect the season’s patterns.
“With this collection, I developed a particular print that I had taken a picture of,” he told Style.com.
“I had this printmaker in London that I was working with and it looks like a kaleidoscope. We worked to develop the image more and more and more. I didn’t want it to have the same floral idea of my Spring [2012] collection—if you look, it’s pretty from afar, but up close, it’s a little hard.”
The video stars models Alana Zimmer, Hanne Gaby Odiele, Kate King, and Ming Xie posing and dancing to Pictureplane's "Bodymod" in the designs, which include printed suits and tees, drop-waist cocktail dresses, fur collars, and, of course, the fabulous Linda Farrow sunglasses made famous in his spring collection.
