Miss Sixty’s Wichy Hassan Dies at 56
Cancer has claimed the life of Miss Sixty co-founder and creative director Wichy Hassan, who passed away December 16 at the age of 56, Women's Wear Daily reports.
Hassan will be remembered as a driving force in creating jeans designed for a woman's curves.
"He always had a smile on his face and was extremely professional,” Diesel chief Renzo Rosso, a longtime friend, tells WWD.
“There was never any tension or competition between us in all these years. It’s a big loss for the fashion world, we will all miss him.”
Described by Elio Fiorucci as "the soul of Miss Sixty," which he co-founded in 1989, Hassan was a Libyan refugee who worked as an artist before turning to fashion.
The future of Sixty SpA is now uncertain, as a production and distribution partnership with Chinese manufacturer Trendiano Co. Ltd. was announced just before Hassan's death.
