Miu Miu Film Series Kicks Off with ‘The Powder Room’

Miuccia Prada is all about the fashion films this season.

First she gave us models busting Charleston-style moves in Prada's foot-tapping campaign video. Now it's Miu Miu's turn to step in front of the camera.

The label has launched The Miu Miu Women's Tales, a short film series in which female filmmakers "explore the feminine love affair with Miu Miu."

Zoe Cassavetes (daughter of actress Gena Rowland and the late director John Cassavetes) kicks things off with The Powder Room, a bewitching film short set in London's Claridges Hotel.

The film sees redheaded beauty Audrey Marnay taking a catnap in the hotel's swanky powder room while fellow models Line Gost, Sophie Vlaming, and Caroline de Maigret come in and out to primp, pamper and gossip.

“I love the idea of a powder room, the ritual which takes place within them is very important for women," Cassavetes says.

“There’s something special about preparing yourself a moment before the action takes place. I love the sense of intimacy. It’s a place away from men, where you can check out other women and reglamorize yourself, ready to face the world again.”

“The story is about women and their private moments,” she adds. "So it’s allowed to be free and dreamy … the dreamy part was the most fun. And the glamour.”

Speaking of dreamy, the colorful Miu Miu dresses worn in the film certainly had us on the edge of our seats.

Screened on miumiu.com, The Powder Room will soon be followed by a new film from another female director, so stay tuned.
