Oscar de la Renta Disapproves of Michelle Obama's McQueen Dress

Oscar de la Renta disapproves.
There's always one.
Though Michelle Obama earned rave reviews for her dramatic red Alexander McQueen gown worn at this week's State Dinner for Chinese president Hu Jintao, designer Oscar de la Renta is taking aim at the First Lady's choice, WWD reports.
His objection? By wearing a British label, Obama missed an opportunity to foster sartorial goodwill between Americans and the Chinese.
“My understanding is that the visit was to promote American-Chinese trade—American products in China and Chinese products in America," de la Renta tells the paper. "Why do you wear European clothes?”
