Three looks from the Christian Lacroix/Desigual collaboration
It's been a good week for Christian Lacroix—the man and the brand.
While the licensing firm that carries his name is unveiling a new line of men's accessories, designer Christian Lacroix—who cut ties with the label in 2009—has scored a new collaboration with Spanish high street brand Desigual, the retailer has announced.
Desigual's Dream collection for Fall/Winter 2011-12 will feature 30 garments designed by Lacroix, who is going by Monsieur Lacroix to avoid conflict with the licensing operation.
Described as "haute couture mixed with the urban and casual Desigual prêt-à -porter," a preview of the collection staged earlier this week at Barcelona Fashion Week reveals an explosion of prints, from bold red graphic coats to stained-glass-esque knit tights.
“It’s about joining our hearts, minds and creativity in a single project," a blog post from Desigual says of the collaboration with Lacroix, whose recent projects have included designing everything from opera costumes to uniforms for French railway employees.
"This first encounter will reveal all the good things we can achieve together. We love the whole idea, even before starting it."
Welcome back!
