Men's Fashion Week Gimmicks: Rain, Puppies, and Lady Gaga

It's raining menswear at Burberry.
We love fashion. We love men. But it's going to take more than a few chiseled dudes in flawlessly tailored suits to rival the attention and energy devoted to the upcoming Autumn/Winter 2011-12 womenswear collections.
Fortunately this season, menswear designers have come prepared, beefing up Men's Fashion Week with every headline-making trick in the book.
In addition to being live streamed, Burberry's menswear show ended with an artificial rain shower on the catwalk, handily trumping the thunder-noise effects from women's shows past.
Not to be outdone, Dsquared2 busted out fake snow, dry ice, and giant rocks seemingly left over from The Lord of the Rings.
Inclement weather wasn't the only gimmick afoot. At Frankie Morello, a male dance troupe donned briefs and beard masks as they boogied on the runway. Vivienne Westwood opted for lipstick-wearing male models and references to the royal wedding.

But the ace in the hole belongs to Thom Browne at Moncler Gamme Bleu, who clearly knows the way to our hearts: puppies. Male models walking adorable leashed beagles on the catwalk? Check and mate!
All this and we haven't even gotten to Lady Gaga's musical director stint for the January 19 Thierry Mugler show.
Guys, you have our attention.
