Oh, man! Chanel’s Boy handbag collection
Want a Chanel fix, but not sure a sweet little quilted carryall is your thing? The Kaiser has just the answer for you no-frills types.
The fashion house’s latest collection of handbags, which hit stores in September (expect a wait list!), are inspired by a cartridge bag originally carried by hunters—a look that Coco was fond of for herself. But that boyish bent doesn’t end there.
“Chanel used men’s underwear to make dresses; she had this boyish attitude, in fact it is the very spirit of Chanel,” said Karl Lagerfeld in a release. “She got it from Boy Capel, the great love of her life, which, incidentally, explains why the new bag is called the Boy Chanel.”
The bags come in classic shades (no pink here!): red, black, gray, ivory, and a color described by Chanel as lead green. Styles range from a clutch to a mini cross-body bag to a larger tote, and the chain straps—it is Chanel, after all—are available in silver or aged gold.
