Harvey Weinstein Leaves Halston
Just months after rumors swirled that the storied but troubled house of Halston might be for sale comes news that Harvey Weinstein, a partial owner of the company, is out.
The fashion industry has been abuzz about the brand since a Vogue cover story on Sarah Jessica Parker, Halston’s president and chief creative officer, broke this week and indicated that the actress was no longer with the company.
Now it’s clear that SJP’s not the only one leaving—though no specific reason has been given for the high-profile departures (and no word on what will happen to Weinstein's stake in the company).
Weinstein is credited with reviving the brand, which saw its heyday under Roy Halston in the ‘70s, and bringing on such fashion influencers as Tamara Mellon, Rachel Zoe, and Bonnie Takhar.
Zoe’s time at the label was short, and Takhar was let go from her position as CEO in November 2010—a move that reportedly devastated Parker.
Marios Schwab was said to be remaining in his role as creative director, but it has since been announced that he too is no longer with the iconic brand.
With no creative director, CEO, president, etc., the future of Halston hangs in the balance.
