Tommy Ton Tops Net-a-Porter’s Blog Power List
I'll Tumblr for ya!
For its latest issue, Net-a-Porter's online magazine has assembled a crack team of fashion and digital heavyweights to judge which style bloggers rise above the rest.
A judging panel made up of Derek Blasberg of Harper's Bazaar, Paper founder Mickey Boardman, Tumblr fashion director Rich Tong, Richard Nicoll, Acne's Jonny Johansson, Peter Pilotto and designing partner Christopher De Vos, Prism creative director Anna Laub, fashion pundit Colin McDowell, Vogue China style editor Grace Lam, and Bloglovin' founder Mattias Swenson has created the Blog Power List, a who's who of the blogosphere's most stylish voices.
Street style photographer Tommy Ton of Jak & Jil took the number-one spot, with Blasberg opining that he's a "visual genius." Meanwhile, Boardman has, er, special feelings for über-chic former model Hanneli Mustaparta, who ranked second.
"If I was straight I'd be in love with Hanneli," Boardman says. "What the hell, I'm in love with her anyway."
Front-row regular BryanBoy and French photographer Garance Doré placed third and fourth on the list, respectively, while British blogger Susie Bubble (#6) and Doré's boyfriend, Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist (#7), were hot on their trail.
Known for covering the nitty-gritty financial and business aspects of the biz, Imran Amed of Business of Fashion fame placed seventh, while Blasberg praised the #8 choice, 15-year-old prodigy Tavi Gevinson of Style Rookie, for her "smarts, wits, and gravitas."
Speaking of rookies, newbie closet style blog The Coveteur came in ninth, while Julia Frakes (aka Bunny Bisous) hopped to the #10 spot.
Think they won gold-plated laptops as a reward?
