Diane von Furstenberg to Receive Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Medal
She’s the president of the CFDA and has been honored with many an accolade, but next week, Diane von Furstenberg will receive a particularly prestigious award.
On April 28, the designer will be presented the 2011 Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Medal from the Municipal Art Society of New York, Women’s Wear Daily reports.
The prize, which was originally called the Presidents’ Medal, was established in 1950; in 1994, it was renamed after the former First Lady in honor of her dedication to preserving New York.
According to WWD, von Furstenberg was chosen “for her role in the redevelopment of the Meatpacking District, as well as her work in support of the High Line.”
Past recipients include Brooke Astor (1975), Agnes Gund (2004), and Robert De Niro (1997).
The black-tie celebration will be held at the New York Public Library.
