Country strong: Nicole Kidman, Taylor Swift, and Carrie Underwood at the 2011 ACM Awards
Proving that denim and diamonds just won't do, a bevy of songbirds and leading ladies hit a style high note with their dress choices at the 2011 ACM (Academy of Country Music) Awards.
Though Entertainer of the Year winner Taylor Swift channeled Old Hollywood in a floor-length, pale yellow, embroidered Elie Saab gown (accessorized with diamonds from Neil Lane and side-parted waves), shorter cocktail-length dresses were the predominant look for the evening.
She may be married to country crooner Keith Urban, but Nicole Kidman turned to a Rolling Stone Mick Jagger's girlfriend for her sleek black rock and roll number. L'Wren Scott's knee-length python dress featured a sexy slit in front and a fur bolero that offset the actress's loose strawberry blonde waves, the big beauty trend of the night.
Carrie Underwood took a nod from the awards' Las Vegas home for her flashy sequined cocktail dress. The strapless emerald-hued number from designer Farah Angsana was the singer's second ensemble of the night, following an embellished purple floor-length dress—which would've fit right in at the Academy Awards—from Jean Fares Couture.
