Three looks from Matthew Williamson’s Macy’s capsule collection
Matthew Williamson unveiled his capsule collection for Macy’s, a line full of dresses, blouses, and jackets—all in the designer’s signature bold colors. The collection, which launches nationwide April 13, retails for a wallet-friendly $50 to $120, with some items priced up to $300.
“The collection aims to capture the essence of the mainline brand, with a focus on effortless glamour, dynamic prints, loosely structured silhouettes and pops of strong color,” Williamson said in a press release. “I’m thrilled to see the final collection come to life and look forward to seeing the line on the shop floor at the launch on April 13th at Herald Square.”
Fans will no doubt flock to the dresses, which hone in on the ’70s trend from the Spring 2011 runways. One-shoulder and halter styles call to mind the disco era, while the fun colors add a modern feel to the collection. Scarves, blouses, animal prints, and rompers (for evening, no less) are all part of the line.
If you’re not in the mood to do the Hustle—it’s an acquired taste, really—there are other pieces that might be more to your liking: printed peasant dresses for the boho girls, outerwear (leather jackets and trenches), and even some denim.
