Tilda Swinton Transforms for Candy Cover
We’re used to taking Tilda Swinton in something effortlessly elegant and understated by Haider Ackermann or Lanvin, her striking face typically makeup-less. But a mass of red curls, major copper eyes, and an over-the-top gold gown?
Swinton’s pulled out all the stops for the fourth issue of Candy magazine—yes, that’s the same glossy that featured James Franco in drag—shot by Xevi Muntane and sporting a custom-made Antony Price gown. Inside, Swinton’s equally made up for her spread, dubbed The Transformer, wearing a violet Yves Saint Laurent caftan or a bustier and Amy Winehouse-esque beehive.

Hair-raising: Tilda Swinton in an Yves Saint Lauren caftan.
“Clothing tells us so much more than we give it credit for: every choice, every decision—even the decision not to choose,” Swinton tells the magazine.
Transformer, indeed!
