It was a glam—and gam—affair at the 2012 Golden Globes, where seductive flashes of leg vied for attention with voluminous trains and sweeping mermaid hems.
Among those opting for a sexy dress slit was bride-to-be Jessica Biel, who put her best foot forward in a wedding-worthy long-sleeved white lace gown with a deep center plunging back from Elie Saab's Fall 2011 Haute Couture collection.
The Charity Water Ball host accessorized with a Tiffany & Co. platinum and diamond opera length necklace (worn down her back) and round solitaire platinum and diamond stud earrings.
Angelina Jolie, meanwhile, was predictably breathtaking in her ivory Atelier Versace gown with a scarlet folded detail, which was slashed to the thigh to offer a glimpse at her white Versace peep-toe pumps.
The stunner dazzled in platinum and diamond stud earrings (25 carats total) and a 12-carat platinum and diamond ring, both by Lorraine Schwartz.
The leggy Charlize Theron stepped out (quite literally) in a plunging, pale pink Dior Haute Couture number paired with a vintage diamond Cartier headband.
Besides providing a view of the nominee's toned legs and strappy cream heels, the slit helped break up the volume created by the gown's oversized bow detail at the waist.
Emma Stone (rocking a deep plum Lanvin goddess gown) and Viola Davis (in a garnet Emilio Pucci with Fred Leighton jewelry) also dared to bare.
