Olivia Wilde Covers Marie Claire
Olivia Wilde ditches her House scrubs in favor of high fashion for the August issue of Marie Claire.
On the cover, shot by photographer Tesh, Wilde smolders in a red hot Calvin Klein Collection dress and Hermès bangle, while the inside pictures get a little grittier (though no less gorgeous) on a New York City rooftop, where the actress tries on a Bottega Veneta ball gown, a body-baring Ralph Lauren dress, and more.
But in the accompanying article by Leslie Bennetts, Wilde is quick to point out that the glamorous life is not all that she’s about.
“I’d like to refocus everyone’s attention away from the Kardashians and onto Doctors Without Borders or aid workers,” she said. “Let’s redefine scandal. Scandal is not who so-and-so is dating; scandal is the fact that 1.2 million people are still living in tents in Haiti.”
The 27-year-old actress also opens up about her recent divorce from Tao Ruspoli, whom she married when she was just 18.
“Our deal from the beginning was, 'We're crazy to do this, but we're doing it because we're in love and it makes us happy. The only reason to divorce is if one of us isn't happy. Life is too short,'” she said.
“After really trying to make the relationship evolve in the way our lives had, I realized it wasn't a natural evolution. When the relationship becomes about working to make it work, it's lost that beauty and that optimistic bohemian sense that brought us together.
“In the end, maybe it’s just that I’m a ridiculous romantic. I have very high standards for every part of life—my work, my relationships, food, love. I can’t just pretend.”
She’s since been linked to Hollywood bachelors including Bradley Cooper and Justin Timberlake, though she says she hasn’t had much success in the dating world:
“I’m trying to be adult, entering the shark pool of dating, but I’m hopeless at it,” she said, adding that she’s just looking for someone who’s “smart, funny, interesting, curious, and not afraid of being with a powerful woman.”
