Bobbi Brown is Out as Yahoo Beauty Goes in a Different Direction!
Major changes are happening over at Yahoo! In a recent announcement, Yahoo stated most of their digital magazines will be merging or closing completely – however the Style and Beauty sections will just be undergoing a re-haul.
And changes are already being made – Bobbi Brown, who has been editor in chief of Yahoo Beauty for almost two years, was let go from the company today, along with a handful of Beauty editors. Joe Zee appears to be remaining at his post as editor-in-chief of Yahoo Style.
“As we simplify our business at Yahoo, our beauty coverage is going in a new direction,” said Martha Nelson, Global editor in chief of Yahoo in a statement. “We have appreciated Bobbi Brown’s expertise, her talent and the unique content she has brought to Yahoo’s audience.”

Yahoo chief executive officer, Marissa Mayer, brought Brown on almost two years ago during a major hiring frenzy, meant to push Yahoo Beauty firmly into the spotlight. Mayer herself joined Yahoo in 2012 and in addition to the many changes at Yahoo Beauty; she was responsible for the hiring of Katie Couric as Yahoo’s Global anchor, as well as the acquisition of Tumblr.
Bobbi Brown is the chief creative officer of her own brand, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. We’re betting – and hoping – she pops up somewhere else in the beauty world!
