WWD's Beauty Inc. Magazine Stars Lauren Hutton

Fall into the gap: Lauren Hutton and Ashley Smith front the inaugural issue of WWD's Beauty Inc. magazine.

We're going to need a bigger magazine rack.

Our reading list is growing thanks to the launch of Women's Wear Daily's Beauty Inc. magazine.

And to kick things off, the beauty industry glossy—which will be published 10 times a year—has put modeling legend Lauren Hutton on its cover.

The 67-year-old icon—and current Club Monaco campaign star—wears a black tuxedo-style suit as she and swimsuit-clad, 20-year-old model Ashley Smith proudly flash their gap-toothed grins (where's Lara Stone when you need her?) on the front of the Age Issue.

Photographed by Ruven Afanador, the Tom Ford favorite also spills about working on her autobiography and how she was fired at age 41 by Revlon, who told her women over 40 don't wear makeup.

She also offers Smith, a modeling newbie from Texas, some indispensable industry pointers.

“[Models] are in a whole other situation now,” she says.

"They may have a job a week, whereas I worked five days a week and on weekends and all day, every day. I look at my agenda book from 1964–1965 and I was walking and taking the subway everywhere, not taking taxis. It’ll be up to her [Smith] the amount of energy she has to make it in fashion.”
