According to a new study, men prefer brunettes with blue eyes (aka Megan Fox).

Bad news, blondes: Gentlemen don’t really prefer you.

In a poll of 2,000 British men from social networking site Badoo, 60 percent of guys claimed to be more partial to brunettes than blondes, the Daily Mail reports.

A third of men specifically found brown hair to be the most attractive, while another 28.6 percent have the hots for black hair, making for a combined total of 59.7 percent in the pro-dark camp.

Still, the fair-haired contingent did get a little love, with 29.5 percent of men picking them as favorites. Redheads, sadly, scored a measly 8.8 percent of the vote.

In terms of eye color, brown didn’t fare so well, falling second to blue (which got 40.2 percent) with 29.2 percent, followed by green (17.5 percent) and hazel (13.1 percent).

And before you start thinking that all men want is a dark-haired, blue-eyed supermodel, take comfort in the fact that fellas claim they’re happier with a more “average” body type.

Just 10.7 percent of those polled found a U.K. size 6-8 (2-4 U.S.) to be most attractive, while 38.8 percent covet a size 12-14 (8-10 U.S.), 25.5 percent prefer a curvy size 14-18 (10-14 U.S.), and 4.2 percent like full-figured women over size 18 (size 14 U.S.).

“I was amazed that blonde hair and size 8 [U.S. 4] did not top the list,” Badoo's Lloyd Price told the paper. “Magazines are full of skinny blonde models, so it is nice to see that in reality guys prefer the girl next door look.”

Interestingly, similar polls in the U.S., France, Italy, Spain, and Brazil found that black hair was tops in everywhere but the U.K., French men prefer skinny women while other countries go for curvy shapes, and brown and green eyes were more popular outside the U.K.

Something to think about when you’re planning your next vacation ...

Meanwhile, another study has found that women spend a fortune on makeup over a lifetime.
