Sea of difference: La Mer's limited-edition World Oceans Day Moisturizing Cream
Attention, beach babes! June 8 is World Oceans Day, and the créme de la créme of beauty brands, La Mer, is doing its part.
As part of a partnership that started in 2005, La Mer will donate $200,000 to Oceana, the world’s largest international ocean advocacy organization, which will support its Habitat Protection Campaign and other conservation initiatives.
But in addition to the donation, La Mer–lovers need to pitch in as well: The company is launching a limited-edition World Oceans Day version of its Moisturizing Cream in a commemorative jar—with the same sea kelp-powered Miracle Broth that’s had La Mer fans scooping up the stuff for years.
And La Mer has also enlisted the help of a few famous friends to help get the word out about protecting the ocean: British sailor Samantha Davies, British environmentalist David De Rothschild, Japanese actress Rinko Kikuchi, French actress Melanie Laurent, Chinese actor Liu Ye, world champion free diver Guillaume Nery and French designer Philippe Starck have all recorded interviews with accompanying sound and music for La Mer’s Seven Seas Sound Mix, an iPhone and iPad app available starting June 8 on iTunes.
The Seven Seas Sound Mix, created with Soundwalk, includes photos and videos for what the brand describes as a “sensory seascape.”
An ocean getaway (okay, via iPhone), a bit of environmental do-gooding, and hydrated skin? Don’t have to tell us twice…
