Guerlain Introduces Shalimar Parfum Initial
Guerlain lovers stateside will have to wait until this summer to get their hands on the brand-new Shalimar Parfum Initial—the company’s first new fragrance in 86 years—but it’s never too early to let the anticipation build (or book a flight to France, where the scent hit shelves this week).
Natalia Vodianova, who’s long been the face of Guerlain and the original Shalimar fragrance (watch her 2008 commercial above), stars in Initial's ad campaign, shot by Paolo Roversi.
The supermodel’s presence isn’t the only indication that the new fragrance is looking to appeal to a younger audience than its octogenarian predecessor. Guerlain perfumer Thierry Wasser’s 17-year-old niece was the inspiration for Shalimar Parfum Initial, according to Women’s Wear Daily.
The new scent will have the flowery notes of the original, with iris, rose, and jasmine, as well as vanilla, tonka bean, Calabrian bergamot, and caramel.
Shalimar Parfum Initial will hit U.S. fragrance counters in August.
