OVERALL TAKEAWAY: Elegant, glamorous evening wear with Eastern influences
Naeem Khan was one of the few shows to receive a standing ovation, and it's easy to see why. His collection of embellished evening gowns was a parade of pure fashion, clothes that are made to flatter a woman without being vulgar.
Khan's ability to understand the contours of the body as well as how to drape over them is what's propelled him to his current status. (Michelle Obama has even worn him.) He makes clothes that women love to wear.
Glamour was inherent in every look, from gowns with plunging necklines and bold shoulders to beaded fringed cocktail dresses. A halter beaded dress showcased Khan's artistry and technique and was simply breathtaking.
Ostrich feathers—something we've seen more than enough of this week—were put to good use, somehow not overwhelming the models' figures.
Khan's Eastern influences were apparent, from an embellished caftan to a white, one-shoulder dress reminiscent of a sari. Though he drew on his background, his clothes remained elegant, not costumey. We daresay this was a fitting end to the week, and Khan's rise to fashion stardom is a welcome sight to see.
