It's Fall at Badgley Mischka. Not the bold, colorful Fall we've seen on runways all week, but a moodier, darker vision—what you'd expect from the season. But not what you'd expect from Badgley Mischka.
The collection kicked off with a black cocktail dress, embellished lightly (for Badgley), with black lace wrapping the face. Rather dramatic, no?
Evening wear, as we know, is key here, and Badgley Mischka didn't disappoint, showing long, flowing chiffon and crepe de chine in black, magenta and turquoise.
Gowns were, for the most part, cinched at the waist with a rhinestone. Bright, bold numbers that will no doubt parade down the red carpet made an entrance but the main color story was black.
The standout piece was a chiffon jumpsuit, with bat sleeves and keyhole front, finished off with an intricate necklace.
Taffetas were a bit of a wash, lending volume to the girls in unnecessary places.
The designers also mixed in their Mark and James line, which consisted of twill tuxedo pants and ripple jersey tops. They included knitwear shown over sequin tops and body-con dresses, which made for a more subdued runway show.
The finale gowns were Badgley Mischka in their prime: beaded flapper dresses and embellished and draped gowns in light hues—a stark contrast to the earlier black pieces that dominated the runway.
The front row—Lo Bosworth, Kellie Pickler, Kelly Osbourne, and the face of the Badgley Mischka campaign, Rumer Willis—will no doubt be snatching up one or two items ASAP.
