OVERALL TAKEAWAY: Ideal for a woman who jets between New York and Paris, flirting her way through both cities
Presented in the former New York Times building, the collection could easily travel across the Atlantic and back, with day-to-night pieces ready to play. The bi-continental amour can literally be worn on your arm, with a red, white and blue python tote emblazoned with “Paris” on one side and “New York” on the other.
There were plenty of skins on display and we don’t mean rolling papers or cast members of the MTV show. Malandrino dove into fur and leather outerwear, including a cropped mink jacket and coats and vests ridged with silvery-gray bands of chinchilla.
Her signature cutout leather appeared in a fitted jacket, and an I’m-with-the-band long dress. Long sashes and jewel-tone gloves gave every outfit a lick of leather.
The '70s were mined for wide-leg pants, knit dresses, and an angular houndstooth shot with red and honey-yellow. Easygoing evening dresses, a Malandrino staple, touched on that decade with silk jersey, flattering draping, and a hit of Lurex.
Now all we need is a leather-encased lighter—one for each city, of course.
