OVERALL TAKEAWAY: '90s grunge infused with high glamour

At Altuzarra's Fall 2011 show, the clothes sent down the runway looked like they were handpicked out of a glammed-up Nirvana concert—and worn by Kate Moss. The grunge references were high, as was evident throughout the oversize parkas in varying versions: cropped, elongated, and fur lined. Grandfather cardigans paired with sheer, patterned dresses and skirts played up the '90s feel.

Speaking of knits, argyle ruled this runway, topping leather skirts, pencils, even appearing as a sweater dress and a silk skirt.

Altuzarra offered up furs, a natural choice given his fame for that coat (worn by Carine Roitfeld, propelling him to fashion fame). The furs, though luxe, were also tough—the rock star's (or rock star's girlfriend's) coat.

The collection was cohesive and, in keeping with the theme of this week, grown-up and glammed up. Altuzarra's fan base of chic East Village girls will no doubt be pleased—they're getting exactly what they wanted.
