From Amanda Brooks to Taylor Tomasi Hill to Hamish Bowles, it was a street-style photo shoot waiting to happen at Doo.Ri’s Fall 2011 show. With a neutral, gray and black palette, the designer created a tough aesthetic mixed with a cool ease.

The lace-up over-the-knee boots were domineering but played down by the softness of the body silhouettes. The designer cited linear structures as part of her inspiration, and the lean, clean lines and simple colors were as linear as a look could get. Doo.Ri also did what she does best: draping, and lots of it, combining jersey folds with chunky knits.

A floor-length gray coat echoed the idea of an elongated silhouette, which we saw throughout the collection. But it was Doo.Ri’s evening dresses that were the true standouts. Gray and black airy jersey looks with intricate woven macramé detailing at the neck and cutouts on the waist were simply stunning.
