Wes Gordon has a Southern pedigree and training that includes stints at Oscar de la Renta and Tom Ford—if it sounds like his clothes are for the uptown set, they are. But for Fall 2011, Gordon had his friends in mind, which means the 24-year-old (yes, really!) had to appeal to the twentysomething crowds.
His materials were as luxe as ever, from cashmeres and lambskins to panne velvet and four-ply silks, but Gordon made sure to keep the silhouettes fresh. One perfect example of his efforts: a navy wool herringbone coat with a drop waist and narrow leather sleeves.
The outerwear was impressive—a camel double-breasted coat, a cashmere cropped jacket, and a perfect gray riding jacket piped in black—but Gordon's separates were also strong, from sophisticated silk blouses to his gorgeous evening options.
Red silk cigarette pants paired with a hand-embroidered top; a blue silk jumpsuit; and a velvet column gown are on-the-town choices covetable to longtime de la Renta clients and Gordon’s pals.
