OVERALL TAKEAWAY: Simply elegant
BCBG is always expected to have a full house of editors, stylists and celebs, and the Fall 2011 show didn't disappoint. A slew of camera flashes flickered as Ashanti, Kelly Rowland, and Jennifer Love Hewitt made their way front row.
The first model strutted the runway in a neutral-colored belted silk dress and turtleneck, setting the tone for much of the collection. The slick ponytails, the natural faces of the models, and the riding boots with a 4-inch heel brought to mind a feminine jockey. But it's never recommended to ride in silk.
Ankle-length skirts and dresses in silk chiffon gave a relaxed feel to the collection. Hidden under the harmonious array of fabric was the ever-present white turtleneck. It elongated the entire body and accentuated the waist with the addition of a skinny belt.
The flow and flair gave this luxurious ensemble air to breathe in the stuffy winter, although with all that sheer it could have been a Spring collection.
On a day like today, we wish it was.
