OVERALL TAKEAWAY: "The Hills" meets "The City" as West Coast shapes and Manhattan embellishments combine for a grandma-approved aesthetic.
This may have been the first time Whitney Port has brought her eponymous line, Whitney Eve, to the runway, but banish those novice expectations. The reality TV designer has expertly targeted in-the-know 20-somethings, thanks to her grandmother.
Taking inspiration from an antique kaleidoscope she stumbled upon at her grandmother's house, Port infused casual luxe with strong colors, cozy textures with galactic patterns. But glitter shorts and fitted miniskirts certainly aren't for the Golden Girls crowd (although Blanche Devereaux wouldn't have been averse to some of the sequin numbers). A little octogenarian flair manages to be completely contemporary thanks to peplum blouses and cocktail-appropriate attire that are sure to please California crowds and urbanites— and stylish girls in between.
