This Fashion Week, HSN's VP Fashion Director and Lifestyle Merchandising Lauren Wilner is giving us her take on the collections she sees. Wilner's worked all over the industry and has an eye that takes years to hone.
Christian Siriano
I am back after attending a ton more shows! Christian Siriano’s show had a great vibe. The collection was definitely more subdued than I expected, compared to what we usually see from Christian. I loved the leather jacket paired with the gown; I definitely want to adopt that look for my own wardrobe! I am even more obsessed with fur for next fall than I was for this fall if you can imagine that. I loved the fur in the grey tones draped across the model—so chic!
Naeem Khan
Naeem’s talent is undeniable. The embroidery detail in his collection was amazing; every style has more work than the next. It’s hard to even imagine the amount of hours that went into each garment. There were many different themes, however the majority of the looks had gold or silver metallic embroidery, which looked so fresh and vibrant. The black and white dot print gown was so striking and fresh! I absolutely died for the metallic beaded skinny pants with the silver discs—so rock and roll! I loved that most of the embellishments were larger than normal and more playful, as opposed to tiny beadwork. One of the chicest styles was of course his signature caftan in ivory with black lace inserts. I loved the idea of the bow waist detail. Of course there were some hot little dresses, my favorite being the beaded mini with beaded fringe! Just makes you want to dance!!

Badgley Mischka
If there was one word to come out of the Badgley Mischka show it was metallics, metallics, metallic—okay three words. I am totally obsessed with the metallic pants from the second look. I’d love those with a great black turtleneck sweater throughout the Fall. I also loved the metallic tweeds specifically in the moto vest style. One thing was for sure, Mark and James were very inspired with cold shoulder details. They even worked this trend into fur pieces which looked new. We are certainly all about this look for spring at HSN. The gowns of course were gorgeous. I was actually really drawn to the one of the cleanest styles to walk the runway—a black draped gown—it looked so chic and simple.
Carmen Marc Valvo
Carmen’s show had a totally different vibe than Christian Siriano’s. Carmen’s was much more ladylike. I loved the cut-outs in the dresses—it definitely made them look more modern. I also loved all of the details on the back of the gowns, as opposed to the front. It was much more interesting to watch that way because you didn’t want to miss a beat!
Until the next NYFW!
