OVERALL TAKEAWAY: Timo Weiland had a major '90s moment for Fall 2012, but kept things modern with luxe touches.
Timo Weiland cited a pre-rave, post-punk group of New Yorkers with an obsession for outer space as his inspiration for Fall 2012. Translation? We’re back in the ‘90s. Ready for a flashback?
The brand’s dresses were of the slip variety, there was a liberal dose of velvet, and yes, skirts over pants were involved. But even if the theme was a little heavy-handed at times, there was plenty to love here.
Take those skirts on their own, for example: the wool wrap skirts were lovely, ladylike but with an edge. Coats were strong as well, with innovative touches like removable fox and raccoon trimmings. And Weiland’s celestial-inspired prints and slightly grunge-tinged florals (just one example of some great Fall florals we’ve seen this season) came in pieces that any cool girls would want to wear—pre-rave, post-punk, or today.
