Looks from the Zac Posen Fall 2012 runway

SHOW: Zac Posen

HAIR: Luigi Murenu for John Frieda

MAKEUP:  Kabuki for MAC Cosmetics

ACCESSORIES:  Satin ankle-strap sandals and jeweled clutches

OVERALL TAKEAWAY: Full blown glamour with a Chinese-inspired aesthetic

Zac Posen knows how to do glamour, and his Fall 2012 season may have been one of his most awe-inspiring collections to date, full of one red-carpet worthy gown after the next.

Zac's signature seaming was complemented with elegant draping and origami-inspired details, loose kimono sleeves, and obi sashes. A beauty look of tight punk geisha buns and bold red lips highlighted the collection's Asian-inspired aesthetic.

Posen used stunning silks, satins and jacquards, with a color palette of black and rich jewel tones contrasted with soft neutral shades and punctuated with pops of bold red and yellow color.

The first looks included slim skirt suits with peplum-waisted, structured jackets and curve-hugging sheath dresses that fit like a glove, flattering the feminine figure with delicate and precise tailoring.

Evening looks followed, featuring fairytale ballgowns with a modern edge. Posen's cast of heavy-hitter models including Coco Rocha and Lindsey Wixson, gave his designs true justice, as the mermaid-skirted gowns floated effortlessly down the runway.

Mr. Posen really pulled out all the stops with a show that was filled with nothing but decadence and dramatic intrigue in its finest form.

Perched front row, FashionEtc caught up with Dita von Teese before the show. "Zac is a good friend of mine so I'm mainly here in New York to see his show. I don't do the whole fashion week thing where I'm here the entire week. He's been sending me some little text messages about the influences of the the collection and snapshots of the details of clothes, so I'm very excited to see it all."
