This Fashion Week, HSN's VP Fashion Director and Lifestyle Merchandising Lauren Wilner is giving us her take on the collections she sees. Wilner's worked all over the industry and has an eye that takes years to hone.

Herewith we present her first installment. Be sure to check back for more this week!

BCBG/TADASHI SHOJI

I can’t believe fashion week is back already, it seems like I was just at the tents. I was excited to kick off the season with BCBG and particularly loved how Max Azria used neutral bases to accent color blocking in brighter tones. Fur is still around, mainly on outerwear. The full fur sleeve added a modern spin to a classic coat silhouette in one of my favorite looks. Here, color blocking was really well done in a more subtle way. Most everything was colorblocked in one way or another, and the looks that paired burgundy and camel together were exceptionally sophisticated.

Although I like pleating and pin tucking, there was a little too much for my taste. All around, the combination of interesting colors throughout the show worked well and I specifically loved the pairing of navy, rust and ivory. Regardless, I can’t wait to get my hands on some of the dresses with fuller backs. I’m excited to sport this look.

I also went to Tadashi Shoji later in the day. The whole inspiration for the show was Golden Age Shanghai and you definitely got that feeling. I couldn’t help but think of the influence from the Gatsby era. I loved the overall vintage vibe. My favorites were definitely the green, ruched, velvet gown and the velvet burnout dolman sleeve dress! I thought that the lace in the beginning was gorgeous and felt especially new in the bronze color. It was interesting that the shoes were classic; a chic pump to be exact.

Signing off for now, will check back in soon with more fashion week commentary.
