OVERALL TAKEAWAY: Basic LBDs need not apply; these are feminine dresses that have a lot more to say.

It’s a truth universally acknowledged—well, at least among women in the fashion industry—that one can never have enough cocktail dresses. Another of those truths is that showing up at a cocktail party in the same dress as another attendee is something to be avoided. Enter Honor.

Designer Giovanna Randall’s relatively newbie collection is ultra-feminine—think pleats, polka dots, florals and sheer overlays—but her strength lies in creating a line that’s not just another collection of sweet little dresses. Case in point: Alexa Chung, who’s gained an incredible fashion following for putting a slightly offbeat spin on pretty things, sat front and center at Thursday’s show.

Standout looks included a series of wool crepe dresses with small pleats at the sides of its dropped waist, which came in shades like bright violet and red. On the evening side, bustier dresses and gowns came in prints, with contrasting prints in sheer overlays.

The effect was attention-grabbing and visually appealing—a recipe for the perfect cocktail dress if there ever was one.
