Overall Takeaway: A fun collection that reminded us of bygone days
Nicole Miller’s Spring 2012 collection was about movement. She was, as she noted in her notes, inspired by biking. Hence the racerback silhouettes, plasticized raincoat, and neoprene. But while that was floating on the surface, underneath was a youthful, free-spirited assortment of clothes that brought to mind a more carefree time.
Mixing solids and stripes with bold, colorful prints, Miller took a devil may care attitude that made us smile a bit. The approach to this season were certainly lighter than Fall's, with colors veering toward the blindingly bright. Makes you think: When was the last time getting dressed was fun?
It wasn’t just the colors and prints that (so many stripes!) that made us think about how we dressed when we were younger and freer; it was the cuts. Looser, flowing dresses paired with cropped jackets; long tees with bright leggings. Loose tops with pencil skirts—yes it was fun, but it was the attitude that made it. It’s time to be that girl again.
