Ralph Rucci on His Passion for Boxing
We never tire of learning about a fashion figure’s unexpected extracurricular, and Ralph Rucci’s got a doozy.
The designer—who happens to be a couturier approved by the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, one of fashion’s highest honors—is also a boxer, and The Aesthete followed Rucci to his Brooklyn gym for a video on his positively transcendental workout regime.
“You can find beauty in the gym, much like the activity of finding beauty in fashion, because it’s all about transformation of self and mind,” Rucci says in the video, which can be viewed here. “Endurance in both boxing and in fashion has to do with your capacity of patience and trying to let go of expectations on your terms.

“Boxing is a singular meditative activity that the more you exert yourself, the more you begin to lose consciousness of your issues, your anxiety, your problems,” he continues. “The boxing allows you to let go. It’s the most extraordinary feeling.”
