The Value of Comfort in Physical Activity
Life is full of fun and beauty. We forget because of adult responsibility, but you could still put on some joggers and just decide to run around your neighbourhood. Why don’t you? Learn to make exercise fun. We’ll cover this and a few other points to help you be more physically active here.
Make Getting in Shape Something Fun
Why don’t you just run anymore? Remember being a little girl, when there was no reason to walk unless some adult told you? You always had energy, and life was spent at full speed. But sometime between then and now, you lost your joie de vivre, as it were. You lost that natural happiness that made running everywhere almost imperative.
Yet when you were little, you ate all the sugar you wanted, and you were in shape. Well, maybe not all the sugar; you get the idea, though, and you’ve seen it for yourself: young children run everywhere, eat all the candy, and are always quite skinny. So what gives? Well, they actually enjoy running—and it is more thrilling when you’re young.
As adults, though, running is painful. It wears you out, and the clothes you wear “ride up” everywhere. This makes running less than ideal. However, if you’ve got some comfortable clothes, such as these loose and breathable Fabletics joggers for women, suddenly you can have fun again.
Life is full of fun and beauty. We forget because of adult responsibility, but you could still put on some joggers and just decide to run around your neighborhood. In fact, as an adult, you can go anywhere; you can run through fields, up mountains, around lakes, and in caves. Why don’t you? Learn to make exercise fun. We’ll cover this and a few other points to help you be more physically active here.
1. The “Fun” Angle
You need to find ways of making physical activity something you legitimately enjoy. Now, what’s “fun” for adults may not be recognizable as “fun” for younger folks. For example, an adult man might legitimately enjoy home improvement work, but that’s some of the hardest work there is. Yet for him, it’s “fun”.
You need to find ways to make it legitimately enjoyable to push your body to and through its previous limitations. When you crack the secret in this area, staying in shape will be literally effortless: you’re just having fun.
2. Keeping Your Mind Occupied
If you keep your mind occupied, that helps. Let’s return to the home improvement example. Paint your own house entirely by yourself, by hand, and you’ll spend 100 man-hours doing the task, and something like two to three weeks heading outside to paint the property every day (the prep work is quite intense and takes up about half that time).
So as long as you don’t increase caloric intake, you’ll lose 10 to 30 pounds, depending; and you won’t notice till the job is done. Your mind will be occupied with painting. So long as you push through, you will lose weight. Now, this isn’t “fun”; except you get to see the fruit of your labors vis-a-vis the finished product.
3. Developing Good Long-Term Habits
Habitual exercise enables physical excellence, but you want to remove impediments to habituation. For example, as explored in the opening of this article, if you’re exercising in uncomfortable clothes, that makes working out hard. Comfortable clothes help make habitual exercise easier. Find ways of habituating exercises that work for you.
Finding Your Physically Fit Self
If you want to be in shape effortlessly, develop good long-term habits, learn to occupy your mind and find ways of exercising while having fun. Get the balance right, and you’ll naturally attain and maintain your ideal weight. For such an approach, having comfortable clothes makes things easier.
