There were grape expectations on the red carpet of the 83rd Academy Awards. Several A-list actresses appeared in various shades of purple, ranging from lavender to deep plum.

As red carpets go, this year’s Oscar hairstyles were refreshingly short of froufrou. From chignons to ponytails, strands were largely swept back, putting the face center stage.

Thanks to the likes of Halle Berry, Amy Adams, Hilary Swank, and Hailee Steinfeld, sequined gowns shone on the red carpet, giving this year's ceremony an effervescent shot of sparkle.
