New York's fashion gals headed downtown Thursday night to join Yigal Azrouël as he celebrated the launch of his first flagship store for Cut25

Situated at 129 Grand Street in New York, the store's cozy 1,400 square feet was packed with a well-heeled crowd sipping champagne and swaying to the beats of DJ May Kwok as they shopped wooden racks full of stunning silk tops and techno knit dresses, along with hats and jewelry.

In an array of vibrant oranges, pinks and greens, the Cut25 pieces showcased Yigal's signature exquisite draping and tailoring, designed with the younger and edgier downtown girl in mind.

Hosted by the handsome Israeli designer, along with Zelda Williams, Valerie Boster, Hayley Bloomingdale and Jaime Johnson, proceeds from the night went to benefit Project Paz, a non-profit organization dedicated to promote peace in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.

Yigal took some time to chat with FashionEtc about the new store, fashion week and the meaning behind the number 25.

What was your inspiration behind this store and your collaboration with Project Paz?

For me, I love the concept of sharing and giving back. I love Paz and I’ve collaborated with them in the past [In 2011, Yigal collaborated with Project Paz to design a one-of-a-kind dress inspired by Mexico]. It was a really good charity to work with because I love what they do.

What was your inspiration behind designing the contemporary line?

All the social girls are wearing them. The colors are so great but so is the cut and the fabric. To create something where people will want to buy it now and wear it now, you have to consider the price point. It’s very affordable, very colorful, very fun and still feminine.

How are you gearing up for fashion week?

I’ve been just chilling and kind of relaxing. I’ve been working out every morning. It’s a great way to start the day because I have so much energy.

What will you do after fashion week?

I’m going away surfing.

What about the store are you most excited about?

Everything! It really came together. We used the whole concept of quadro design for the racks. We thought it would be a really cool thing to have this hanging system creating all these unique angles using the name Cut25. 25 is my lucky number. I was born on the 25th and in the alphabet, 25 is Y, so there is a lot of energy around the number 25 for me.

What can you tell us about your new Fall 2012 collection?

I am very excited to show my collection. Everything is new.  I am just so excited about everything. We have beautiful accessories. Everything is totally new, really fresh, and there is something very cool about the entire collection. I can’t give away too much.
