White on: Kate Hudson on InStyle's May cover

Wearing a lacy white dress, '60s-style hair, and minimal makeup, Kate Hudson is as refreshing as a summer breeze on the May cover of InStyle. And as her megawatt ear-to-ear smile clearly indicates, the actress has never felt more gorgeous in her own flawless skin.

“You know how you tell a friend she looks amazing and you ask her what she’s doing differently—and it turns out nothing except she met a new guy?” Hudson, who was photographed by Michelangelo di Battista, tells the magazine. “Well, the best beauty advice my mom gave me was that you have to find happiness.”

The Almay spokesperson has done just that. Divorced from Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson, with whom she has a son, Ryder, Hudson is now dating Muse rocker Matthew Bellamy, and the couple are expecting a child this summer.

“Everybody in my family wants a girl, since my whole family is made up of boys,” says the Something Borrowed star, who doesn’t want to know the child’s sex. “Of course there will be no disappointment; we just want the baby to be healthy. I didn’t find out with Ryder, either, and I loved that. It’s the last real surprise left on the planet.”

Speaking of surprises, Hudson says that despite her divorce, she would definitely consider giving marriage another go.

“I wouldn’t count it out. My own parents aren’t married, and anybody who has seen how we love, open our arms, and accept people with all of their faults knows I come from a great, happy home,” says the actress, who also poses for the magazine in disco dolly dramatic makeup, retro '70s waves, and a drapey purple backless number. “A wedding is a beautiful thing—and I love the idea of two people celebrating their love and bringing their families together—but Matthew and I kind of skipped that part and went right to the good stuff!”

That good stuff doesn’t necessarily include her new pregnancy pounds and blossoming bosom, however.

Drama queen: Hudson shows her versatility with severe eye makeup, bold red lips, and voluminous hair.

“I hate it. I’m usually an A cup and I’m getting close to a D cup,” she says. “Big breasts are fun for certain things and really not fun for other things. Plus, I love fashion, and having big breasts is not ideal for certain looks. They’re way more fun when you’re not in your clothes. Then, they’re a blast!”

We’re sure Bellamy wouldn’t argue with that.
