The school is partnering with luxury conglomerate PPR—which owns Gucci, Balenciaga and Alexander McQueen, among others—for a new contest, Women's Wear Daily reports.
Parsons BFA students are invited to submit their thesis collections, and 20 finalists will go before a panel that includes Barneys New York's Dennis Freedman, Vogue's Candy Pratts Price and Dree Hemingway. Online shopping site-cum-social-network The Fancy will also showcase the student submissions. The contest winners will be announced in June, and will receive a coveted internship at a PPR brand.
Simon Collins, Dean of Parsons' School of Fashion, said in a statement, “The opportunity for our students to work with such an esteemed roster of premier brands in both the luxury and sport and lifestyle sectors will provide these students with the additional experience that will all but guarantee them a strong start to their careers. Partnering with PPR and The Fancy will provide our students with an international perspective, thus positioning them as design thinkers poised to lead fashion globally.”
