Livia Firth (wife of Colin) is kicking off her 2012 Green Carpet Challenge.

As the wife of Oscar-winning actor Colin Firth, Livia Firth has many stops on the upcoming awards show circuit—and the dedicated eco-activist is making sure to keep it green (and glamorous) all the way through.

Livia, who founded an initiative called the Green Carpet Challenge in 2009, has enlisted fashion heavy hitters like Chanel, Tom Ford, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino, Stella McCartney and more to create eco-friendly gowns, suits and accessories for her numerous red carpet appearances.

All the pieces will reportedly be upcycled, vintage, or new but eco-friendly, starting with the Giorgio Armani gown she’ll wear to the Golden Globes this Sunday, January 15.

"Over the last three years, the Green Carpet Challenge has become an all
-consuming passion of mine," Livia told Vogue U.K.

"This part of the fashion landscape is so exciting because it's genuinely revolutionary and relentlessly positive. It is absolutely the right time to take the challenge up a gear, so we are working with our favorite world-class designers and actors as GCC ambassadors. Fashion is a brilliant communicator. The fashion we communicate through the GCC promotes social justice, environmental integrity and the very best in design."
