Big ticket item: Will the 70-carat Taylor-Burton diamond hit the auction block?
It’s official: diamond lovers have been salivating over the rumors that Elizabeth Taylor’s famed jewelry collection might go up for sale, and now, New York-based auction house Christie’s has confirmed it.
According to an Associated Press report, Christie’s will auction not only the jewels (which have been valued at $150 million) but also a selection of Taylor’s art, clothing, and other memorabilia.
The exact pieces that will be on the block are as yet unknown—the 33-carat Krupp diamond ring and the 70-carat Taylor-Burton diamond necklace are two of Taylor’s most famous pieces—but Christie’s will announce details about the series of auctions later this spring.
No doubt the bidders will include a star-studded lineup; Kimora Lee Simmons has already announced that she’s been lusting after Taylor’s jewels for years. Stay tuned!
