“I love Ali MacGraw because she does have that boho, ‘70s thing going on, but she also has that super-preppy Love Story Harvard/Radcliffe thing. She’s got that mix of boho and prep, and also that girl-next-door look, where she’s very relatable. I love that photo— it’s a William Claxton photo, and I love it because it’s so simple. She’s wearing a T-shirt and she has her hair parted down the middle - that’s it. It’s the spirit that is coming out of her in that photograph. I think tomboy style comes in two parts: one is fashion, and the other is the personality underneath.”
