Osa Johnson
“She was one of the first Americans to travel to Africa on safari, and all these exotic lands at the time. This was the teens, the 1920’s. I didn’t know much about her, and then I kind of became obsessed with her book ‘I Married an Adventurer.’ She was flying seaplanes with her husband, taking pictures of huge emu eggs. She was just a wild character. A lot of those women have been glossed over in history, I think, but she was one of the great adventuresses of our time.”
