Mugler Spring 2013 RTW

Launch Slideshow

SHOW: Mugler, Spring 2013

THEME: Easy chic with a defiant sophistication

ACCESSORIES: Minimalist strappy sandals and small handbags

OVERALL TAKEAWAY: Practicality was the magic word at Mugler's show. This collection was chic in a way that combined the complicated design theories and finishing of past brand collections with the simplicity of time, making each garment a must-have for the upcoming spring season.

What's most appealing about this collection is Nicola Formichetti's comfortable design marriage to Sebastien Peigne to create the kind of womenswear for the Mugler brand that addressed a worldly woman.

At first glance, the collection might seem minimalist and basic, but the details are where Mugler shines. Upon closer inspection, the finishings of each piece from architectural drapery to accordion pleating, are destined to be a favorite this season.

The collection didn't play much with prints and was careful with the selections it did use. Minimalist color-blocking was used in garments with a garnished finishing that gave the looks a shiny glare. Dropped waists and butterfly sleeve openings made the collection an easy blend of 30s femininity and 70s simplicity.

Sophisticated pants with smart tops made up the separates that were turned into complete looks, that could also easily be mixed and matched with other pieces from the collection (or your own wardrobe!).
