SHOW: Rachel Zoe Spring 2013

THEME: Jane Birkin’s ‘70s style

HAIR: Odile Gilbert for Kerastase, who created bangs inspired by Zoe’s new ‘do

MAKEUP: Charlotte Tilbury for Maybelline

OVERALL TAKEAWAY: Rachel Zoe and the late French singer Serge Gainsbourg certainly seem to share taste in women.

After channeling his duet partner Brigitte Bardot for Spring 2012, the stylist-turned-designer has cast her eye on the effortlessly chic style of Serge’s great love, Jane Birkin.

Never one to stray far from her boho brand, Zoe delivered breezy, wide-legged pantsuits and floaty chiffon gowns in a mainly black and white palette. A black and white mini paired with a black straw topper and knee-high boots nailed the Birkin look perfectly, while silky champagne-hued playsuits, sequin t-shirt dresses, and vertical stripes (in both sheer black and thin multicolored versions) exuded the retro vibe Zoe was no doubt striving for.

We may still need some Dutch courage before reintroducing the fanny pack into our wardrobe (though Zoe’s slim models were hard to object to), but we’ll no doubt be adopting her effortless layering of blazers and wispy gowns cinched with a belt.

And that sequined dress towards the end? We die
