OVERALL TAKEAWAY: Ooh, this is going to be one fun spring. While the main Marc Jacobs collection was all about stark black and white pieces inspired by Warhol muse Edie Sedgwick, the always more youthful Marc by Marc Jacobs line delivered a heady dose of color, prints, and playfulness that spelled good times ahead.

Checks and plaids from schoolgirl skirts to a cheery blue, pink, and purple sundresses ruled the day, mingling with bold florals and slimming vertical stripes, oftentimes in the same outfit. That’s right, wallflowers, the prints-on-prints look isn’t going away anytime soon.

The invigorating palette of oranges, pinks, and blues, with a bit of gray and black and white thrown in for good measure, felt punchy and totally appropriate for the season. Now we just need to fast-forward through the next few months so we can race to slip on those bold mosaic-print crop tops, striped knits, and peplum-waisted sundresses.

Accessories are a major element of any Marc Jacobs collection, and this season was no different. Our hearts yearned for bright checkerboard-print bags, while printed scarves in brilliant hues added a tropical element as they were draped across the models’ waists in lieu of belts and formed turbans and headbands.

It’s just all too good.
