Do you want the good news or the bad news first? Okay, bad news it is: Tim Riggins was not in attendance with Minka Kelly at the Jenny Packham show. We know: it’s time to torch the fan-fiction.

But the wonderful news is: the runway was stuffed to the brim with Packham-designed delights, shiny and glitzy, without being ostentatious or campy-just the way we, and the rest of her Hollywood acolytes, like it. Anything sequined or embellished, anything that can potentially sear your vision in direct sunlight, sorry, come back later. We’re going to need a minute alone with these beauties.

On the heels of her femme fatale Fall 2012 collection, Packham eschewed the vamp vibe for a lighter, carefree nod to the Vegas heyday. Not just the Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra era of “booze and broads,” but the British designer was influenced by the women, who carved their own careers, not just on the arms of the Rat Pack crooners: “They didn’t chase the pack, they ran with it.” Lauren Bacall and Angie Dickinson’s feisty independent streak translated into geometric prints and liberal Swarovski embellishments, with bows and dots on heavy display too. The looks are overwhelmingly feminine: curve-hugging and leg-baring but always flattering silhouettes.
